Bill Hughes grew up in Lumberton, North Carolina and studied photography with his father who owned a portrait studio and worked for the Associated Press. He has photographed the Hispanic community in the North End of Springfield, Massachusetts, adult literacy programs and the elderly. His work has also been displayed at the Danforth Museum in Framingham, and other regional galleries.
Recent editorial work has included the election campaign of Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and author photographs for the recent New York Times best seller Plato and a Platypus Walk Into a Bar (www.platoandaplatypus.com) and the soon-to-be-released, Aristotle and an Aardvark Go to Washington (www.aristotleandanaardvark.com). Hughes photographs throughout New England and specializes in weddings and portraiture. His quiet, unobtrusive approach allows him to capture the classic, candid, spontaneous moments of celebrations and special events.
He is presently finishing a portfolio of images for exhibition which were gathered while on a three-week visit to Asuncion, Paraguay.
